This expedition leaves on Mondays at 9:30 am from our trailhead between June 29 - September 28, 2026.

Professional guides, well-trained mountain horses, tack, 3-nights tented accommodation, and 10 meals, starting with lunch on the day of your arrival at base camp.
Sleeping bags, cots, mats, tents, towels, washcloths, riding helmets ( if wanted) and riding cape are all supplied.

Rides kick off from the Copper Cayuse trailhead where your horse and guides will be waiting.

Our rider weight limit is 250 lbs or 113 kgs. However, this is a guideline and depends on factors such as rider fitness, height, and riding experience. An experienced, balanced rider puts far less strain on a horse than someone new to riding.
We are always concerned with the comfort and long-term health of our guests and our horses. Since horses also come in all shapes and sizes, not all horses can carry the same weight. Please keep these factors in mind when booking.
While we do our best to accommodate all guests, we reserve the right to arrange an alternate time or cancel a booking if we do not have a suitable horse available for you. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation with this policy.

We'll meet you bright and early at the trailhead for the start of the expedition. Your horse and guides will be ready, and we'll load your camp goods into the trailer. The initial day involves a 16-kilometer ride to our base camp, gaining approximately 2000 feet in elevation while enjoying stunning mountain views. At camp, you'll be reunited with your luggage (maximum weight of 30 lbs) and settle into your tent.
Our base camp offers amenities such as a hot shower, outdoor plumbing, and tents mounted on platforms for added guest comfort. A hearty supper will be served around 6 pm, followed by relaxation around the campfire.

After a satisfying breakfast, prepare your horses or allow your wrangler to handle it for you. The day's adventure involves circumnavigating the camp, featuring flat riding perfect for exercising the horse in faster gaits. This ride includes mountain views, river crossings, single tracks, and a scenic ride along Birkenhead Lake.
Don't forget your swimsuit for a refreshing swim in the lake before returning to camp for supper. Most guests find themselves hitting the bunk for a restful sleep before it gets dark.

Following a morning feast, we'll either trailer or ride to the Li-lik-hel mine. Explore the original mine site and witness how old hard rock miners extracted gold ore by following veins in the rock.
Discover how the First Nations, miners, and loggers utilized the land while still enjoying its beauty. We return to base camp late in the afternoon for your final night, and many guests stay up late to witness the mesmerizing light show put on by the stars.

After breakfast and repacking the trailer, embark on a different set of trails to return to the trailhead. Enjoy breathtaking mountain views along the way, and take the opportunity to bid farewell to your horse and wrangler at the end of the day.

Flexible Booking
We offer flexible booking options including cancellations as late as 24hrs before your ride, rescheduling or cancelling at no extra charge for all rides except the multi-day rides which require 7 days’ notice for cancellation. Last-minute booking can be made up to 2 hours before the hourly ride, 24 hours before for 1/2 day and full day rides and 7 days prior for multiday rides.*
